Movie review: GI Joe: Retaliation

Imagine you were in Blackshot or Sudden Attack where you were to fight in a battle using sniper, knife or grenades. For those readers who have no ideas what am I talking about, they are actually a free-to-play multiplayer first-person shooter online games. These games are the best to describe GI Joe: Retaliation.

GI Joe: Retaliation is about the G.I. Joes not only fighting their enemy (Cobra), they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their existence.

Fans of military-type games or the action figures will find this film enjoyable. However if you are not a fan of these games, you may find yourself a little confused during the whole cinema experience. Plot was quite messy, especially the scene where Storm Shadow was explaining the whole incident of Hard Master. Some scenes were shown too quickly as if it was like "a person who was going to be late for an Oscars" and the only memorable scene was when the film was coming to the end.

I have to admit that the GI Joes was indeed cool, especially when Storm Shadow briefly helped the team. In my opinion, Channing Tatum was not into his role as Duke (probably because the actor knew he was going to die anyway). Fighting scenes were dominant and spectacular, which was the reason why the film was still doing well, even though the plot was quite messy. CGI effects looked a little cartoonish and not convincing.

After watching this film, I believed that it can actually be improved because it provided a lot more better than its predecessor, GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra (2009). Overall, neither was the film good nor was it bad, it just needs more boost.

Memories

Have you ever recalled happy moments which happened years ago and emotions just comes to you naturally? Or do you still remember what did you do years ago?

Memories are the ones which makes a huge impact to our daily life. Without memories, how would a person's life be? Will he/she tries to let a negative thing happened or try to stop it from happening? For example, person A remember how it feels like being treated as a rubbish and years later, friend B was treated the same as well. After person A knew about person B being sad, did he just stood there and let B felt even bad or did he do something to helped B? Well of course, A will definitely helped B since he experienced the same scenario.

Sometimes memories help us not to let the same mistakes happened again and it teaches us valuable lessons. Memories like falling in love, getting married, moving to a new house, enrolling into college or getting a first job are things we can never forget. That is why I said that memories make a huge impact to our daily life. Memories does help us think positively (and negatively too!) and make we, people smile everyday. They help us to calm down when we are angry, so we can reflect to ourselves on what we did was wrong and what can we do to prevent such things from happening.

Memories can come in a form of music and emotions come to you naturally. They can help actors to portray a character perfectly and also singers to sing emotionally.

I hope you, readers will find this entry interesting and also you can share your happy memories in the comments section. :) Before I end this entry, here are some image quotes about memories (taken from Tumblr):

Well that is all for now, bye readers :D

Movie review: Cold War 寒戰

Plot
In Asia’s safest city, the police have long been untouchable. Approaching midnight in Hong Kong, police headquarters receives an anonymous call: a fully loaded police van carrying the force’s most advanced equipment and five highly trained officers has disappeared off the grid. The hijackers possess direct knowledge of police procedures and are already several steps ahead. The police must meet a list of demands to ensure the hostages’ release, including the delivery of a large ransom. Any delay will cost lives. The clock has begun to tick.

Review

The film concentrated on Hong Kong law and police system. Casts included Aaron Kwok, Tony Leung, Andy Lau (guest star), Charlie Yeung, Gordon Lam and Chin Kar-Lok. I am impressed by how the story was written, although the plot was quite confusing at the start of the story. Suspenseful and thrilling were the words to described this film and I had to admit that the fighting scenes were done brilliantly (Hong Kong's action films never failed to impress people). The way the director filmed the scenes were similar to Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and overall of the film was well done. So if you are someone who is interested in police fighting scenes and suspense, go for Cold War 寒戰.

Everyone's A Critic (and a continuous from previous entry)

Want to be in a movie community? Contribute some mini reviews on movies? Everyone's A Critic is the place you should visit and signed up. I tried this site yesterday while I was outside for dinner. I found this site through Wikipedia after I was researching on film critic. :)

Why I recommend Everyone's A Critic

As what I wrote above, this site lets you be part of the movie community where you can find people who has the same interest as you which is of course, films. It allows you to rate movies with the scale from A+ (highest) to F (lowest) and most importantly, letting you write a review. This is optional but I recommend this as it can help you improve day by day.

Besides all these ratings and reviews, Everyone's A Critic allows you to find critics who are similar to you. How they do that is actually based on how you mostly rate the movies and the weight given which means how important do you find the particular movie.

I hope this entry will served good purpose and neither am I advertising this site nor making money out of this, LOL. You may find me under the username, WillyA. :)

So long, readers!

P.S (From previous entry), I love the friendly, Chinese New Year atmosphere. It reminded me of one of the Skyfall scenes when James Bond entered the Macau casino through the 'boat' and the decoration looked similar to it (I swear). The SAF Yacht Club members looked rich and educated that they gave out classy and elegant aura. That was all I remembered.
