Movie Review: Straight Outta Compton

THERE ARE SOME SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW.

Hello readers,
I am back again and this time a review on Straight Outta Compton. Based on actual events revolving the world's most dangerous hip hop group, NWA, the story tells about the group's trouble with the law as they struggle to get their words out in the world. The law enforcement fears them and the group are ready to take on as they fight for what they really deserved. Straight Outta Compton is also the title of NWA's debut album that was released in the late 1980s.

I have always wanted to watch Straight Outta Compton because I am quite keen on hip hop culture and also this story is based on actual events. Such powerful film I thought it is usually misunderstood. If you think this film is all about some niggas who rapped and speak with vulgars, that mentality of these stereotypes thinking, bad influence on drugs and all things, then you are missing out the whole point of Straight Outta Compton. These men, NWA, are humans who spent everyday trying to get their words out. They aren't afraid of what is coming for them, they don't fear law enforcement. They have balls to create an art which is rapping and were brutally honest with every words being said.

Straight Outta Compton is also a film which deals with racism, something which still exists in our world. 1992 Los Angeles Riots was covered if you are wondering. The cast of the film were brilliant in their portrayals including one of them happened to be rapper Ice Cube's son. I enjoyed every parts of Straight Outta Compton and I admit this film is one of the best true story films out there. If you didn't know, this film was nominated for Best Original Screenplay in this year's Oscars.

Straight Outta Compton is a film which you as a reader shouldn't missed. So what if you dislike rapping or whatsoever, this film is a definite powerful one and I recommend you to check it out before the Oscars. We need films like this with issue that is still going on in the world. With message that could tell the world to wake up.

Ratings: 10/10

P.S. While I was looking up on Straight Outta Compton on IMDB, I noticed some reviews that have low ratings. I clicked on this particular user whose review with rating of 3/10 and it said these niggas shaming Jimi Hendrix in his grave. He then went on talking about this film showing bad influence and whatever he could think of. Whoever that person is, how can you compare NWA to Jimi Hendrix and any famous black singers popular back then? They are never in the same music genre category. Get your facts right and what do you mean bad influence? These people were back then rapping about the issues that they faced and those words were truths.

Movie Review: JFK (1991)

Hello readers,
Usually I don't do review on films that are dated back years ago and mostly watched them for my entertainment. But for this film, JFK, I can't hold back my thoughts about how fascinating it was. As you could tell, JFK focuses on life after President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated. Till today, there are many probable theories of the assassination and this film is one of them.

Kevin Costner as Jim Garrison, a district attorney, was one of the people who challenged the possibility of the assassination which he claimed that was elaborated by the powerful people of the country including CIA and FBI. Harvey Lee Oswald, who was played by Gary Oldman, was portrayed in the film as someone whom you could sympathised given the theory that he was probably framed. Was Oswald really working alone or did he have other people helping out to make the assassination happened? I was absolutely amazed by the theory that Garrison pointed out because it is possible and if it is true, do the people want to hear the truth? Even if it is the truth, we may never know what really occurred behind the assassination. After all, the truth had died along with the deceased.

I applauded the editing done on JFK. It looked almost as though I was watching a never before seen footages of JFK assassination, Oswald's private life and other perspectives. The so called footages and the real ones blended in very well and made this film looked like a documentary film. It is no wonder this film won the Best Cinematography and Film Editing in the Oscars.

The acting performances given by the cast were alright and so does the storyline. I would recommend anyone who happened to be finding a film to watched. JFK is simply outstanding and well choreographed. Straightforward, I would put it.

Movie Review: Deadpool

THERE ARE SOME SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW.

Hello readers,
I am back again with a review on this badass, smart ass and red ass Marvel film, Deadpool. The film starred Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool who gave his comedic sense to the character and even better than the time he wore that hideous suit in DC Comics (if you know what I am referring to).

Deadpool is different from any typical films released from Marvel's Cinematic Universe. It isn't like Ant Man, The Avengers or whatever. The opening of the film got me like, "What kind of opening is that?" in a positive way. Slow motion fighting and flipping and funny shots of our dear Deadpool's ass, I believed. Deadpool is also film which allows the titular character the chance to conversed with the audience as he breaks the fourth walls, giving us every details, jokes and flashbacks throughout the film. Very refreshing and almost kept everyone bursting into laughter.

Although the film has a little flaw on its storyline, Deadpool still delivers the comedic reliefs which gave the film some expectional benefits and well, loads of the titular character who you can awed about. The soundtrack used in the film was incredible too. Be prepared to get yourself entertained and let loose your mind as Deadpool is ready to serve your main course or probably a set meal of everything you have ever dreamt about. Get ready to sit tight and get kind of kinky. ;)

Ratings: 8/10

P.S. Do sit still after the film ends cause there are two post-credit scenes. Speaking of which, watching Deadpool during Valentines Day is a great idea!

Movie Review: Spotlight

THERE ARE SOME SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW.

Hello readers,
I shall be writing a short or maybe long film review on Spotlight. Based on actual events that took place between 2001 and 2002, the film focuses on a widely publicised Roman Catholic sex abuse scandals where priests and some members of the church allegedly sexually assaulted young, adolescent children. As a result of over many years, the church tried to cover up the scandals and the team of investigative reporters calling themselves as Spotlight are challenged to expose the truth.

Spotlight starred Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber and Stanley Tucci. The story writing of the film was good and so does the cast's acting performances. Mark Ruffalo and Rachel McAdams were the stars who stood out in the film and it is no wonder they were nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Actress in the upcoming Oscars. The film itself is a thriller with so many questions that would leave audiences wanting to find the answers and judge for themselves based on provenance given. It is understandable why did the children trusted the priests in the church very much, I mean after all they are like a father, trustable and someone you can leaned on. It is disappointing to see that these powerful members of the church robbed the innocence of the children by abusing their authority.

Spotlight also gave us a glimpse on what is like to be someone who wants to tell the truth to the world. The more you keep digging, the more you will find yourself scared. There is a character who (I loosely quoted) said, "If it takes one village to raise a child, it takes one village to abuse a child." I truly agreed with this statement because you see, the power of media depends on the number of people being involved. It takes many people to be involved to get the whole world involved.

If you haven't watched Spotlight, I suggest you to give it a shot. Such inspiring, powerful film of today's media and scandals, I believed it shouldn't be ignored.
