Birthday + CNY

Hello readers,
Tomorrow is the first day of Chinese New Year and are you guys excited? I'm sure everyone do since we get red packets, good food and mandarin oranges every year.

Chinese New Year is the occasion where you can think of your resolutions for this year and bond with your family in this once-a-year celebration. This is also the occasion where you tidy up your house, get rid of old stuff for the New Year and eat 团圆饭 (reunion dinner) including Yu Sheng. Chinese Lion Troupe dance right outside your house or in shopping malls. It is even better because you have a long weekend and school holiday till Tuesday. :-D

My family and I are planning to have a reunion dinner today with my aunt coming to visit and joined us. We are also planning to visit Malaysia and meet up with relatives and cousins whom we have never visit for almost three years. I am looking forward to tomorrow till Monday!

In a meantime, a few days ago, I celebrated my 16th birthday. Many of my classmates sang random Happy Birthday song in class and that was surprising. Although my birthday was on January 28, I celebrated my birthday last Sunday. The reason for celebrating early was because 28th fell on the Tuesday and plus, I had Chinese New Year rehearsal from 3.30pm to 6pm for today's celebration. I also had a Mathematics class test the following day. Somehow, I wished my birthday always fall on the weekend. ㅠㅠ

That is all for today and I wish everyone out there a Happy New Year!

Problems/Issues

Hello readers,
I am here to talk about my recent problem or issue that I have been facing this week.

I have many questions left unanswered by people whom I know and even my loved ones. These issues are related to my habit on social media. I admit that I am a loner and I am married to my studies instead of devoting myself to friendship. I have no idea why, why am I interested in studies ever since I stepped into secondary school.

Back when I was in primary school, I was not interested in my studies and I did not take pride in them. I was let down and only began to study when there was only one month left to Primary School Leaving Examination. Now that was three years ago in 2011 and I remembered promising my mother that I would get 190 and above and I did. Most of my study habit was basically came from the rewards I get at the end of the day and the enjoyment I get from using my iPad, smartphone or watching a television series/movie. Had I not worked hard for PSLE, I would not have the study habit and attitude in secondary school.

Having a study habit and great attitude are good things. However, when I finally got engaged to studies, I realized I had a hard time making friends. I could not trust my previous classmates or even my outside of class friends in CCA too. I just couldn't. I still remembered how my classmate asked me to do something and in the end, I felt betrayed two years ago. I also remembered crying every single week after coming home during Secondary One because I could not trust anyone or make friends. I cried because no one accepted me and everyone said I was weird which I did not mind. I was just sad that most of my friends I made in secondary school treated me like a stranger and all they do is backstabbing me. It hurts.

The only way I could get some friends is through social media like Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. These social networking sites helped me in defining my character profile and also letting the people who knew me to know what type of person I am. I must thanked Steve Jobs for creating this revolutionary cyber world with a touch of your fingertips. :-) I am glad that these smart gadgets or social media sites helped defined me in many ways.

In my opinion, I believed that "time will changed everything about this hell" and I should try to be open-minded in this society. With my basic instinct and continuing my success in studies, I can be an asset to the world instead of being a liability. I have my mind settled on one option in the future after Secondary 4 and I will not reveal it till further next time.

I hope you, readers are feeling positive these days and wishing an advanced Happy Chinese New Year to all Chinese out there!

Victory

Hello readers,
Today I am here to talk about happy news. As a Singaporean, you would have know that GCE 'O' Level results was released on Monday, January 13, 2014. 92.8% of Singaporean passed their national examination if I remembered clearly.

As a Secondary 3 student of Greenridge Secondary School, I believed that it is good to know more about GCE 'O' Level and 'N' Level as this really affect the future students taking their national examination either next year or maybe wait longer. I am proud of my school and in fact, there were two students from my school featured on a Chinese newspaper, Shin Min Daily News (新明报纸), Channel 5 News and The Straits Times.

One of the students was amazing. He got an aggregate point of 13 and at the age of fourteen, he started out a hosting server company for income. This student in fact wants to study computer engineering in university and now I heard he is interning with a company where he hosted the website server. To be honest, these people are the best teachers in life. They boosted my morale in continuing to work hard for my studies and GCE 'N' Level in 2015.

These people are in fact able to balanced studies and private life. They both have a good Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) record which means that they are active and hardworking. I have no idea why am I interested in all of this matter but for the real, happy news, I do not have to go to school on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 because of the seniors of Class 2013's hard work and effort, though I may have to returned to school for Chinese New Year Celebration rehearsal.

I shall stop here for now and for those who have completed JAE today, I wish you all the best in getting your first choice!

Back from camp!

Hello readers,
As the title stated, I am back from a fun and tiring camp. I went to Jalan Bahtera Adventure Camp Centre on January 8, 2014, Wednesday for a three days, two nights and returned home yesterday on January 10, 2014.

This camp was compulsory for all Secondary 3 students, unless you had a valid reason of why you did not want to attend. The main purpose of this camp was to let us bond with our new classmates since we had done e–streaming last year for the subjects that we are taking for upcoming national examinations. Another purpose of this camp was to let us survived without the use of electronic gadgets and also to learned values and skills which can be useful in life.

During the Day 1, the students arrived in the campsite located at Lim Chu Kang Road and unpacked stuff needed for the afternoon activities. In the camp, we are divided into two groups according to index numbers in class: Index 1–20 and Index 21–40/41. The first activity for my group (Index 1–20) was the High Elements which I was afraid to go because of fear of heights and shakiness of the poles/buildings. In High Elements, there were three obstacles: Flying Fox, Rock–climbing and Ropes Course. I did not managed to try Flying Fox and Rock–climbing but I tried Ropes Course (finished within a minute of climbing the pole and coming down).

The next day, my group went on a Land Expedition where we walked around the Kranji Countryside for the past three hours. During the walk, we had a water break where everyone stopped at one side of the road and drank up. We only managed to visit one place due to time constraint which I can't remember the name but in the building, there was a pond and a talking parrot in a cage. My group played a game and later used their pocket money to buy an ice–cream.

After coming back from Land Expedition, every Secondary 3 students had their lunch and moved on with the next activity. For my group, we went back to our hut and packed extra clothings (For me, I didn't) and changed into our water shoes for Dragon boating at Pandan Reservoir. Dragon boating was the highlight of the whole camp which was why everyone wanted to come for the camp, though they did not want to. This was my first time doing dragon boating and in my opinion, I enjoyed getting wet and I felt more bonded with my new classmates in teamwork effort.

In the night, the whole Secondary 3 students gathered at an open ground for campfire. We sang various campfire songs and each classes came up and showed skits/cheers/songs. It was really fun and the crowd went wild after DJ turned up the music that everyone knows. The campfire ended around 10pm.

Day 3 was the day where we thanked our instructors and teachers for taking good care of each and every students. We packed our stuff including sleeping bag and moved to the canteen for our last meal, breakfast. I had a bread with peanut butter for breakfast. :-) Around 12 noon, we returned to school and we were dismissed from there. Before coming out of school gate, my class took a photo with two instructors.

Although this camp was tiring, I am thankful for having classmates and friends. I learned many valuable lessons in the camp and also the true character of each and every students including friends whom I know for two years. I wished to attend such camp in future but for now, I rather stay at home or go to school for normal lessons.

That is all I have for now, bye readers!

Happy New Year!

Hello readers,
I would like to wish a Happy New Year to all of you guys. Say goodbye to 2013 and hello to 2014! 2013 was the year that I gained experience and valuable lessons from various camps, Hong Kong trip and class 2/2 (2A2).

I will be a Secondary 3 student this year in class 3/1 (3A1) and I am taking Principles of Accounts. Although 2014 is not the year where I will take national examination, it will be the year where I must be fully prepared before the national examination in 2015. As a Secondary 3 student, we will someday take over the graduating classes of 2014 (Secondary 4 students) in every duties, responsibilities and legacy. I, as a student is ready to take more challenges ahead!

Let's recapped what I have achieved (2012 & 2013):
- Got to topped the whole N(A) cohort
- Get the Edusave Scholarship 2013 which I will received on January 4, 2014
- Got a HTC One in July 2013
- Saw Super Junior on February 19, 2012
- Visited Hong Kong with Chinese Orchestra in December 2013
- Saw the private venues of Hong Kong Disneyland and earned a Disney Y.E.S Programme certificate

These are what I can remembered for now but most of all, I managed to achieve my goals for 2013 and it is time for me to create goals for this year. :-) I still hope I can maintained my academic subjects' results and I get more opportunities to be involved in projects, performances and others.

That is all I have today and I wish everyone a happy, prospered new year 2014!
