30072013

What's up, readers!

It has been two weeks since I last wrote a post here. I realized that I haven't been to cinema for a month now and I will probably be watching Red 2 this coming Saturday. :)

I hope you guys have an enjoyable week ahead and especially to all Singaporeans as National Day is coming on August 9. On August 10, 2013, my school's Chinese Orchestra will be collaborating with Nanyang Polytechnic in performing at Gardens By The Bay. The performance is at night, probably around 7pm and it's free. ^^

That's all for today.

E-Learning Day + SCO Concert

Hello readers,
Since tomorrow is an E-Learning Day where I have to stay at home, I shall write a post. :)

Lately, I didn't have the time to go cinema because of my Chinese Orchestra practices on Saturday and the last film I watched was Hotel Transylvania on DVD. Last week, I went to Singapore Conference Hall and watched a Singapore Chinese Orchestra concert, Yan Hui Chang & SCO. The concert was held from July 5 to 6 and the duration was around two hours and nearly thirty minutes. I can tell that the concert was the best one I ever went and watched as the performances were intriguing. If I am not wrong, I remembered one of the music pieces was composed by a man who had recently passed away and therefore, SCO decided to play the piece in a memory of the brilliant composer.

There were two special performers. One played the Guanzi (管子) while the other played the Erhu (二胡). My favourite music pieces played by the SCO during the concert were The Silk Road Fantasia Suite and Execution in Autumn. Execution in Autumn was a sympathetic piece as it was inspired by the Peking opera and talks about a girl who was falsely accused and sentenced to death. The theme behind this piece was about the injustice of a wrongly accused victim. The Suona represented as the judge who ordered for execution. The Silk Road Fantasia Suite is another unique yet exotic piece about the Silk Road, a trade route traversed Asia and Europe two thousand years ago.

I shall not go on with additional details and besides the concert, my teacher gave each Chinese Orchestra student a SCO's friend card. A SCO's friend card is a member card and can be used to purchase tickets (only for SCO, not for buying K-pop or any other concerts). Once you presented the card to the SISTIC ticketing counter, you will received a 5% discount of the original ticket price. I wished I can post how the card look like but I preferred not to. All I can say is that as a student, I don't think the card is useful because it is not like you are going to watch SCO performances every weekend and plus Singapore Conference Hall is at Shenton Way. :(

Overall, the concerts (I have been watching their performances since last year) are enjoyable and I highly recommend you to watch at least one performance by SCO. Always choose Saturday if you are buying a ticket as there isn't much jam when you travel to Shenton Way and possible, leave your house before 7pm. ;)

That is all for now, readers!

2nd day of Term 3

Hi readers,
Today is my second day of Term 3 and I had lots of fun. :) Recently, there was a funeral going on beside my classroom block which led to disturbances and also most of my previous teachers were gone for some reasons that they were replaced with new ones. I prefer my current teachers because their teaching methods are better and easier to understand.

This semester is a crucial one because there isn't much time and my examinations are coming next month and the end-of-year ones are coming in two months time. Once I received my results, they will changed my life forever because my subjects streaming depends on them and this will affect my future.

I hope everyone is having an enjoyable month, especially those who are having summer break. Happy Summer!
